v3 forum style applied.

You've probably all noticed the style change on the forums (if you are using the default style). I've spend some time today finishing up the forum skin and working on the post bit and other areas to make it easier to use. I also think this will help draw in forum members who are new because they won't think they left the site (two conflicting designs).
I also changed my username to missionsix just becuase it seemed fun.
Enjoy. And hopefully i can get a hold of Jay to get some new content going.

Just a few small things i'd like to go over:
- Small Updates
- I have talked to a lot of the students at the Academy of Art University, and many of them will be working with the staff on this site in creating new content! These guys are all very good artists and all of them will be aiding us in creating a lot more content. Expect a lot of more art-focused articles cropping up, from photography, illustration, graphic design, and fine arts such as painting drawing and sculpting.
- Usually you wont or dont see a whole lot of me. I'm still here, still creating, and still working on this website along with Pat. Pat is an amazing man whos put a lot of love into this site, i suggest we show him some love back for all he's done. Expect to see some new content from me cropping up within the next two weeks or so, im going to slowly start adding my work and articles up
- Some of you might not know this but i am a current AAU student and if you are as well i'd love for you to get in touch with me either via PM, AIM, or Email. My content information is:
- Email - jwhite07@punahou.edu ; jwhite10@art.edu ; akuleatvdcore@gmail.com
- AIM - studiowhite
Site Search and Bug Fixes
Posted by, missionsix on 04-14-2008 0 Comments
The search box in the header now works. Its powered by google, so if your looking for something on the site and want to find it quick, trust google!
If your looking for a specific tutorial, your can also filter the search (on the search page), so that it only returns tutorial results. I'll soon be adding more search filtering options as more content is created.
you can use the search feature in the header or by going to the Search Page.
C&C welcome.
I also fixed the image-host for registered members. There was a bug that caused your upload folder to not be created. That is fixed now and everything is running smoothly.

Image Host
Posted by, missionsix on 04-08-2008 2 Comments
If you haven't noticed, On the site home page and in the site header, there is now an Image Host section.
You are free to upload and store your images here. Ads will only show on the index for non-registered users.
Registered users can view and access all their previous uploads.
If you use the image host and you are not registered, your resized upload will be marked with "visualdesigncore.com/image-host/"
There are currently no limits set, but you agree not to be to aggressive with your uploading / image storing.
This is still in BETA so please be respective of the site, and share any feedback you may have in this thread.
Site Plans & New Tut (sorta)

First i'd like to say thanks for sticking with the site, its progressing a little faster now
. I've taken one of Luz's tutorials, Digital Painting Walkthrough he submitted in the user tutorial forum. I've converted it to text to make it easier to read and inserted it into the tutorial index. You can find it on the latest tutorials section on the homepage or in the Tutorial Index.
With that said, I had to go back over some of my older code to get the tutorial into the database. When i transfered things to the new version, i deleted my old admin interface on accident which left no way of updating the index without writing code. So, Upon doing so, I realized the way I was building this site was SLOW, and counter intuitive. Which leads me to my next point.
I am going to start to rebuild this version using a php framework i've come to love, Code Igniter. It should speed up my development efforts as well as allow me to better structure the site.
At first, i'm just going to converting everything over to the code-igniter framework. This means looks probably won't change that much. After that is complete, I will be able to start building new sections of the site (or complete ones that were mean to be finished upon v3 launch).
One section that is going to change is the showcase and upload. Instead of a gallery type system, it will be an image upload system, like imageshack, that allows for anyone to upload images. Creating a user account on the site will allow you to keep track of your uploads and also recieve comments on those images.
Well, that is all. I'll keep you posted on progress. I hope to have this changeover version out the door in the next two weeks, which at that point i'm taking on another paid project.
