This was a common problem with me when I was first trying to do these, too.

What you have to do is transfer the fresh gif into photoshop, then expand the canvas size to whatever signature size you want (Image -> Canvas Size). I tried to just link them all and drag them into a premade signature background, but ImageReady doesn't seem to like that.

So, expand the canvas size to whatever you want it to be, then drag the flattened signature background into the gif background that you just expanded. So the background doesn't cover up your animated gif, either move the background to the bottom layer or cut a hole in it for the gif to show through.

Transfer it back into ImageReady, save optimized as, blah blah and it should be fine.
