Something i did when windows fucked up on me, is to reinstall it on your computer, but this time, make the install folder WINDOWS2 or something of the like, that way it will still install and boot from the new copy, but all of your older files will be preserved. Then you can get everything off, wipe the drive, and start over new, then put your stuff back on. Expressburn is a good prog to use to burn piles of data/music/whatever to DVDs or CDs.
