Re: last.fm

Well, I mean, it's a better artist site than fucking Myspace. I mean, sure, Myspace has artist blogs, but last.fm is much more music/user-oriented. And just more fun, imo.

Anyways, you should all get http://www.rateyourmusic.com accounts. Like, seriously. It's better than that site muzik uses, lala.com. I like being all to keep tabs on all my albums, and that site is pretty useful, imo. But meh.

Re: last.fm

I prefer purevolume.com as an artist site... its easy to find music I like. As far as keeping tabs on my music, i could care less how many times i've heard a specific song or album. I just want to listen to my music and find good music. although sometimes it is interesting to look at that kind of data.

Re: last.fm

I've actually noticed myself limiting myself (2 myselves in one sentence = grammar erk) by using the last.fm system, actually. Like, I want to balance my charts out to be more like muziks. Not so I have one bandhave 1,000 plays, with my 46th most played band having only like, 45. Which would have been the case, in some cases (2 cases in one sentence = grammer erk...again).

It might help if I manipulated my charts like muzik has (playing the same song 42 times in a row to make it on of his top 50 songs?), but meh. Right now I'm just trying to balance my charts out.

EDIT: btw, don't take offense to that muzik. I might be mistaken. But if I am, seriously, how the fuck DO you listen to the same song that many times? Seriously.

My charts (http://www.last.fm/user/CyborgJesus/) are very balanced.

The 1,542 on Bad Religion isn't as bad, considering I have two full decades worth of their music in my library (297 songs, with a few tracks I deleted off their discography), as mewithoutYou being at 514 plays (with only 48 songs).

I want to balance my charts too. Even though I rarely listen to Bad Religion these days, I try to spread out to so many different bands in my music folder that I can't quite close the gap.

No offense taken. Some of those songs are straight in a row (like Living in the Sunlight, Loving in the Moonlight, but that was kind of a joke, too), but some of them will just always be good (like Cinder & Smoke and Insomniac Olympics).

Last.fm does help keep me from listening to the big artists too much, while neglecting the ones I'm not too familiar with.

Re: last.fm

http://www.last.fm/user/lesaucisson/

i fall for the balancing act someimes, but last.fm doesn't have a plugin for my ipod so even if it updates play count on itunes, last.fm doesn't record what i listen to on my ipod while driving, skating, walking to class, etc.
but yeah, only in it for the feeble attempts at finding/getting new music.

Re: last.fm

In response to mehmet's weekly charts:

Matt & Kim are playing in Gainesville soon. Never heard of the band, but previews on iTunes sounded good.

Ironically only a few days before I can legally drive (and officially own a car).

Life sucks.

...didn't you JUST read that I get my license AFTER the concert?

I also get my license 5 days before a mewithoutYou concert in Orlando, but I doubt my parents will trust me enough to drive 2 hours by myself.

Re: last.fm

Mainstream != bad.

Obscurity != good.

Then gain, I wouldn't call, say, Melpo Mene 0% mainstream. A large number of people on this board like the band, and only one of them because they followed someone else (you and muzik). The rest found it independently, on their own. This is irrelevant, I just felt like saying it though.
