Yeah, I do, but I was just messing with planets, you know, figuring out how to draw them. I'll start working on the starfield soon...

good start I suppose. but try to make your planets look more like a planet and less like a blood-covered meatball. and work on glows on the stars, and higher and lower opacities on them.

ALSO, a coherent light source.

good start, but like Doctor (gotta get used to that...) said avoid the blooded look. Did you use Alyns tutorial to make those? If not I suggest you try it, it's alot more complicated and hard to do but much more worth it in the end.

Not bad at all for just starting. But yeah, i think they are too red. Keep at it though, then you could make a piece for ad infinitum!

they are useful though. they just teach you the basics, then once you know that, you can start to move out and create your own style and experiment with new ideas or techniques.

if you completely fallow the tutorial... then yes.
but if you pick up a trick or two, thats a completely different story...or atleast thats how I see it.

2nd is nice, but they are all really red, try to not make it that paint brushy looking, and more natural.

is it just me, or is the first one look too saturated?

Just the really cartoony bright(est) red areas, contrasting with black so suddenly...really threw me off.

I suggest reading the big tutorial. It's not telling you how to make it. It's just teaching you lighting tips. It's the type of thing you'd learn in an advanced art class, nothing wrong with it.
