How are you attaching your stencils to the wood? (use spray adhesive)
Don't forget that wood is pourous and therefore the paint may be flowing to particles in the wood that weren't originally hit by the paint.

It comes in a can (like spray paint; its in the same aisle at your local hardware store) and you spray it on the back of your stencil, slap it on, hold it up a little and let it dry (fuckin like 20 seconds), spray your paint (or brush it on) and then peel it off.

This attaches the entire stencil to whatever you are spraying, and is one of the best (if not the best, I don't know any other ways) ways to reduce underspray to the bare minimum. Underspray is what can make it fuzzy (it gets around the stencil because the stencil isn't flat on the wood or wall or whatever).

Like $2.89? One can will go a long way.
