Rasterbater Poster Walk Though

Dunno if any of you have seen / heard of Rasterbater. Its basically a program that takes an image a adds a rasterized / pantone effect to it. It then allows you to specify the paper size, and you can blow up the image as big as you want and set the dot size. Well i did this and made a poster that is 5 sheets by 2.6 sheets in size. Its basically a program that creates bad ass posters....

I'll get some more pics up and i'm working on pulling the pics of the poster off my camera phone...

Okay to start off you download the program and unzip it to any directory. Run Rasterbater.exe and you should be presented with a screen to choose the language. On the next screen you simply browse for the file you want to rasterbate. i choose a sexy lady..

Step 1/5 - Choosing the image

Step 2/5 - Select Paper Size

Step 3/5 - Define Output Size

Step 4/5 - Set Rasterbation Options

Step 5/5 - Save Rasterbation As...

RASTERBATE!

Build your poster!

Final Words

I would just like to say that this poster looks sweet. I wish I would have done a smaller dot size, smaller dot size = more detail. It also looks pretty sweet in black & white if you have the right image for it. i might do another larger one on my other wall here soon. Cover up those white walls and RASTERBATE!

This is the first i've heard of the downloadable version. I knew of this as a web based program a year or 2 ago, would enable you to download the rasterbated picture in PDF format. I used it to create a template for a Communist banner i made for my Cold War class last year. Was amazing, we had an 8 ft tall by 3 ft wide banner.

Damnit, just tried looking for the jpeg i made of it a while ago, can't find it

Bit, once the diggfuck stops, i'll try and find the online version. I'm sure somebody's made a PDF reader for mac. Somewhere.

Yeah the program just outputs a .pdf that you can print. if its black / white you could probably do it at the library if they aren't stingy about printing, just make sure you dont have double sided printing turned on...

is this the only way you can do this, or could you just in large smaller sized pictures x300% and still have the same quality (or is it always going to be stippling)

changing the dot size gives it more clarity / defininition. The smaller dot size definately makes it look more like the origional picture a lot more. But its not unimistakable at 15 mm, what i used.
