Why Do People Cut

Many peopl in the world cut themselves ... for alot of different reasons... I personally dont but I was just wondering why you guys think other people cut

i dont cut myself... buuuuuuuut, i believe its to "release inner pain" and stuff like that. (personally i think you're stupid to inflict pain on yourself like that, but hey its their bodies)

I never understood how inflicting pain on my own self would solve any problems.

I think most girls nowadays are just tagging along with the trends and they want to be in with the crowd so they slit their wrists, and show it off to their friends.

I have depression running through my family however. Depressed to the point where one would wish life didnt continue on, but i cope with it. My dad takes medication. My grandpa nobody gives a shit about.

i dunno man. I know some people do there selfs, like drill into there skulls becuase they have unimaginable pressure in there brain, and they want to release it. So basically that is a form of escape.

i think the reason people cut there wrist is similar, they want to escape from reality. Or they like to see themselves bleed. All i know is that it is very messed up. Not very fun if you ask me.

i think muzikaddict hit it on the nose with "tagging along with the trends", but i wouldnt say that most girls are doing that. as to where this trend started... who knows, but yes i do agree with sicloan that it isnt very fun and i just find that kind of thing to be stupid. draw a picture instead of trying to kill yourself.

ehh wow this is a big topic sorta -.- rite now I just want to get away from everything cause ... 1) My gf broke up with me 2)My favorite band is splitting 3) I cant walk 4) my mom is a RaGeInG alchaholic T_T shes a bitch and shes downstairs to pick up some "medicine" soo mii life isnt that bad but i envy kids with kool momies lol ( not really ) im lucky that mii dad kiks ass thow -- My frind tried to break outa mii house to go rolling once and set off the alarm at 4:00 am and it woke everyone up and mii dad didnt give a shit at all

-- ps when I want to kill mi self I just think about what the after effect would be and I fear death to much soo ... I dont do it and then i git online and then git away from real life from doin stuff online ( design n video games )

The Majority of people who "jump" and commit suicide realize a portion of the way down that all of their problems are fixable, but they can do nothing now.

I think some people but to prove to themselves they are mortal, and that the pain inside is from the life they lead. Not that they are a spirit damned to the eternal pain for their life. Hey i don't now shit though so my opinion really doesn't count too much.

We do have a member here that has delt with this and would be more suited to give us the insight, but frankly, i dont expect him/her too because thats a bit private. I will tell you what i know, some people just need attention, and it "eases" emotional pain and they use it as a form of escape. Or all the above.

I used to burn myself a lot, not cut, but burn. To the point where I was actually treated in a mental institution. I'm not sure if Akule was referring to me or not when he was mentioning "someone", but yes. I've always been pretty open about it though, I'm not ashamed of my past, as a matter of fact I tell it quite often to try and encourage others that there is a life worth living.

The last time I burnt myself was approximately one month ago, and before that it was about 3 months ago, but before that it was 2 years. I suppose I had to kind of retrain my ways of thinking, but a lot happened in that recent period of time.

Way back then though, I was on a lot of drugs and I was also manic depressive, not a good combination. I used to burn the skin off of my wrists and watch it drip and melt down my arm. It was pretty much a sadistic reminder to myself that I was in fact still alive. When I felt the pain of mutilation, it kept me from hitting that higher edge of killing myself, others do it for the same reasons.

My last two are because I'm also mildly paranoid schitzofrenic, in other words there is a side of me where I'm normal...still not happy but just well...normal. Then there are times when I will hear voices and just do things that I normally wouldn't. The last time I had a "fit", I almost murdered my ex-girlfriend and one of my friends, I'm not joking. All I could hear inside was that I wouldn't feel any regret or remorse with their blood on my blades.

There are a lot of mental problems that can occur that will make people want to hurt themselves. I've hurt myself over 2...

Then there are also those assholes wanting attention...

Well, back then I used to do "something" at least once a week. So after a little bit of time, I got so used to it I didn't even feel it. Right now I have 2 burn scars on each wrist, one on each of my hands, one on each finger (two on one), and random cut marks on my arms. But seriously, I consider myself a success story when it comes to that, even though I still have my problems, I always manage to walk away from them.

Some of my body art also shows some of my knack for pain

(1/2 inch holes in each ear, lip, 2 guage in tounge, pentagram on left pec)

Only cutting i have done to my self was out of my own stupidity :P oh ye smashed a window with my right hand when i was drunk :P hehe was trying to hit a dude that was hittin on my girl :P had to stich 8 stiches

but other than that I know a few people who do it they mostly in the Goth crowds. alltho I never seen the point of inflicting pain and scars to your body, just seems stupid if u ask me :P
