Bitchin new Box

As some of you may know, I've been mentioning around how crappy my current box is. I've also mentioned about how I am planning on building a new semi-beastly machine. Well it's about to happen. Having quit my other job bussing tables, I got a job as a lifeguard at the local city pool. My first paycheck is only gonna be around 180-200 bucks, but that will be enough to start me on my way to getting all the parts. I'm really excited about this, and I KNOW that nobody else is, but I'm bored so I'm posting this anyways. Heres the low-down on what I will be running in the future.

Asus A8N SLI Deluxe MOBO
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Sckt 939 (Venice Core) Processor
Corsair 1024MB PC3200 CL2 RAM, getting 2 of these bad boys
XFX GeForce 6200 Graphics card
ThermalTake ThermalRock Circle Full-Tower Case
Seagate 200GB 7200RPM HDD (storage and boot disk)
Raptor 74GB 10000RPM HDD (Photoshop, C4D, Games)
Dell UltraSharp 2001FP 20.1-inch Flat Panel LCD Monitor
Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live 24-Bit PCI Sound Card

and other stuff thats needed to work, but those are the main things. I also might get a raid controller to back up the raptor to the 200 gig, but maybe not.

there is onboard raid if you use SATA drives. i would look at the DFI lanparty SLI board... its sexy. i think it takes DDR2 memory though, and of course, you have to buy an pci-x graphics card. I too am upgrading my machine, although i need more money. I currently have about $1000 in savings.

If your an avid gamer, i think your choice of parts is excellent, although if your going to be multi tasking or using photoshop alot or any 3d programs, an intel socket T may be better for you. The 630's look really nice, and so do the 660's (but the price is absurd). I love intel, and i love AMD, the thing is, i do alot more than just game, which is why im probably going to buy an intel 660.

If you dont already, definately start reading up on parts and reviews. A GREAT site i frequent is www.ocforums.com. i spend alot of my time reading reviews and looking at project logs and other things there. Plus, you can usually get the best deals on parts, and sometimes excelent deals on used parts in the classifieds (have to have 100 posts).

man, i have spent SO much time reading reviews about the parts im getting its absurd.

the 6200 is PCI-E, so thats no problem.
OOOOOH just found that board you mentioned, thats somethin purty right thur. Problem is its outa my price range, so im stickin with my current decision.
As for the Intel processor, i just looked at em, also outa my price range.

Thats why i typed "semi-beastly" up there, hell i have a P3 at 800mhz with 192mb of pc133 ram, what i picked can only be an improvement right?

And yea i plan on using this thing for games and photoshopping, but as i said, hwat i picked can only be an improvement right?

yeah you picked a very decent system. If i were you i might consitter a 6600gt at least though, to keep current. 6200 is a little low, and i dont know how it would perform. My brother has a 6600gt (agp) and he seems to like it. I currently have a 6800gt which is amazing, but its agp, cuz i bought it 1 week after its launch. So yeah, that board is a good one. Read on graphics cards though, cuz i know you dont want to buy something you'll regret.

yea, im thinkin about spendin a little more, i WANT the 6800GT, but i dont want to spend 300+ bucks just on the graphics card when my processor wont even cost that much.

Just went and found the 6600, switched my bookmark to that. looks like a better card, but the card is one of the last things ima buy (along with the processor) so i can get em cheap as possible and maybe even upgrade while still being in my price range (6800GT possibly?)

i know! i came home today and was like "F**K YEA!! WOOT! PARTS!!" and ran into my room and ripped open each box. I'm even using the mouse right now, i just cant wait to try it all out. I also ripped open the Xconnect PSU box and started connecting all the cords just to see how cool it looked lol.

update: Reecently got my case and MOBO and put everything in. Havent had any problems yet, cept for the board needing a 24 pin power connector and my PSU comes with a 20 pin. oh well, simple adapter will change that. I've decided to upgrade to 2 6600GT vid cards instead of just one, and instead of the 3500+ i'm gonna get the 3700+. Double the L2 Cache(1mb). I'm also going to go with a 300 gig hard drive instead of a 200, but i will still be getting the raptor.

No hable espanol? por que?

Im upgrading my system now actually. Putting in watercooling (i'll take pics). Im using a Maze 4 with OCZ copper ramsinks on my 6800gt. A *BRAND NEW* swiftech Storm (released on the 1st of july). Tygon 1/2" ID 3/4" OD tubing. A Weaponized Boniville Heatercore with 2 weapon shrouds & 4 Sanyo Denki 120 mm fans. And a Danger Den D5 (aka MCP655) pump.

Now if you dont understand any of that... i dont blame you. I've been reading up on water cooling for a long time now, and only recently decided to purchase parts. I have everything in my hands except for my weapon core / shroud combo which should be here on wednesday. Then i can start putting shit together!
