Re: Anyone believe in God? Answer me this:

I dont believe in god or really anything for that matter. I think religion is a bunch of bullshit and i dont see why people give so much money to the church. My old neighbors donated thier $20,000 speedboat to the church because they werent using it! WTF is with that?!

As for your question, i dont know becuase i havent ever read the bible or care to comprehend it.

Re: Anyone believe in God? Answer me this:

You ass. That money goes to support the poor.

Even if some of it is used help the church, having alarger, grander church attracts more 'members'. Which means more money. It all works out for the better in the end.

And there is nothing wrong with the bible. You don't have too read it as a brochure. You'd be amazed at how much of it is just plain history. Having to study it for English (in a public school no less), really helped me in History, when we were learning about the Hebrews.

And unempirical? Yeah, that's called a measure of faith. Just like you are unempirical by having done nothing to prove that a god doesn't exist, but instead just made a choice.

I do not like athiests that can not respect themselves, and need to find out about other people's beliefs. Like it fucking matters. Those shits who feel the need to squash anyone's opinions with a crappy "He doesn't exist" are lower than worms in my eyes. If you don't need a 'God', then you should not be talking about it. Or caring. No one with half a brain cell should agree with you, but do for the same reason they like insulting Bush:

They think it makes them cool for insulting a public figure.

Now, if asshats can not understand why the hell you'd donate something to a church to help other people, instead of just themselves, they you should be quartered and have your remains pissed on. Quit your shit act. Don't call other people's beliefs bullshit. Maybe then people will stop giving a fuck about you, you psuedo-deviates.

Now, to prove my point, examine point A:

1. God is invisible.

2. I can't see God.

3. Therefore, God exists

I myself aggree with you 100%, but I have been flamed before by using such 'vulger' words. However I myself used to be an alter server and the pasture wanted me to be a priest!

Anyway after some time and pain I realize.

yeah, there is history involved. what has that to do with "the spiritual portions of the bible's texts"?

"And unempirical? Yeah, that's called a measure of faith. Just like you are unempirical by having done nothing to prove that a god doesn't exist, but instead just made a choice."

the only way christians know about their chirstian god is through the Bible. there is zero outer reference. the bible says believe in god, so they do. simple as that. does that sound wise to you? (NB: god and spirituality are very different)

Re: Anyone believe in God? Answer me this:

The first part you quoted was about Sicloan, and atheists in general. The book is not a waste of time. The morals of the stories are something anybody could use.

And the second part:

You seem to be missing it. Religion's always been around. It requires faith to just believe in it. Even as an atheist, you can not say that you have never put your trust into something (like...a special girl close to you, as an example), and felt like believing that thing 100%. It may not be the most practical thing, but it's what people do.

I myself am Catholic, but I'm not a evenaglical or anything, just so you know. If you were some Jesus-fanboy, I would of called you off for insulting atheists too.

Re: Anyone believe in God? Answer me this:

I'm a christian, my beliefs vary a bit from the Bible.

But I do believe in Jesus being the Messiah and whatnot.

I don't attend church, and I've only read some bits and pieces of the Bible just because I was interested.

I have the same stance here as I do with drugs. Do what you want, just don't bash people who do something else.

Ok, I agree that the Bible holds a lot of great messages and that anybody has the potential to learn much from it. That is not what I am questioning; I am certainly not missing anything. If you must know, I am a catholic who is questioning his faith (Not my spirituality, which is an unrelated issue here).
"If you were some Jesus-fanboy, I would of called you off for insulting atheists too."
I am also human, so it is in my nature to question – don’t be chauvinistic.

"Religion's always been around."
Extend your three-piece psychology for just a moment and consider your statement logically - try using occam’s razor – and tell me what you come up with, I’d really like to know your commonsensical angle.

Neway, I don’t pretend to know everything, that’s why I worded my original question carefully - what I do know is that I am not compelled to believe in a certain god (christian in this case) just because a book tells me to – even less so, as it contains absolutely ZERO proof (physical/mental) to back its ethereal data.

well from your argument you seem very ignorant and mo more accepting to other views than these horrible athiests you speak of. I do not like bush for my own reasons not because its "cool" to not like somthing. i dont do anything because i think its cool. i do not belive in god and do call myself an athiest. you learned about the hebrews from the bible? did you ever think that thoes views might be biased? did you believe what the bible said about them with an open mind? probably not. i wouldnt suggest learning history lessons from the bible, seeing as how it is a religious text.
i personally thing religion is stupid. giving money to the church is just as stupid. i know that churches do do missionary acts with the money but at what cost to the people that they help? the people they help are converted into christians which is damn wrong. yes help the people thats great, but dont make them conform to your beliefs while helping them.

do you know the story about galileo and the church? galileo discovered that the earth rotated arond the sun whereas the church believed and taught to its believers that the sun rotated around the earth. when galileo tried to spread his findings the church threatened him with his life or he could sign somthing saynig he was wrong and continue to live. why would you want to follow an organizatin like that? you should check out what you're following before jumping on board.. conformity is not always the answer.

I agree with a lot you said turbo... just one thing;

"why would you want to follow an organizatin like that?"

you have to note that the Church and organizations controlling the faith have changed a great deal since the renaissance period.

"the people they help are converted into christians which is damn wrong"
is that actually true? they seriously don't give the people they help a choice?

Damn, I figured you'd be able to figure it out yourself..not need everything spelled out for you. :S

Nice Version

I basically meant that religion's always been around. It's something people need in their lives. Some people just need some form of balance to help their lives. Which is religion. People have something to blame problems of the world on, explain things that are currently impossible to explain, or comprehend, or even use as an anchor to help them through times. It's nothing but hope to people. BECAUSE it can't be proved.

So, yeah. You can't prove evolution's true. It's just a theory. But then again, so is being created from a higher being. One has more evidence than the other, sure. But if it's someone's own belief on something, then it's their burden. It's their choice. It's personal.

And because it's their's, other people really shouldn't be judging them at all. They can plainly state what they feel, but it should still be PERSONAL. I think anyone whoring off religion as superiority is just stupid. Those people out to be castrated (...not naming any names of course. Let's just say it ryhme's with Davalon).

tune Version

Go fuck yourself, you pig. Maybe then you'd finally get some pussy. I don't need to explain myself to you. This is not a debate. A debate is you thinking you're right over somebody else, that you're belief is the right one, and you trying to win over people's opinions. If you are so low as to try and say YOU know the answer to everything, then you ought to suffer a sharp kick to whatever prepubescent balls you have. Now go piss off. And remember to hold it this time. Don't want another incident where you piss on your balls, right shorty?

WEEEEEEEEE. Where do I begin? From the part where I say you're a dumbass, or to the part where I say you're a 100% d-bag?

tune mode....ACTIVATE!

I'm not ignorant. I hate religious fucks who try and argue, as you can see from my above post. I mean, I REALLY hate them. I don't care if they're my best friend one minute. The second they mention religion, I feel the need to stab them. With whatever's in site. Preferably a knife, to keep it easy, but I've been known to whip out a shot on more than one occassion.

1) I never said "...those shits..." was referring to you. But I am now beginning to think otherwise, considering I wasn't even talking to you, or give a damn who you are (as long as I don't piss off admin's, I'm ok. ^_^)

2) Of course I thought the views were biased. If you have ever taken any form of History class, you'd know that the people who wrote the Bible was influenced by their times. Ever know that the 613 Commandmants were almost exact copies of Hammurabi's Code, only without the different punishments of social class? Or did you just ignorantly decide that the Bible's wrong, because you are some psuedo-nonconformist? Proof man! I can't take worms like you seriously when you are typing with last night's dump.

3) Church's don't convert anyone they help. They show them the relgion, and teach them about that, yeah. If I was poor, living on the streets, infested with your mother's STD's, and someone offered me a free house, of course I'd want to know about them. They'd be my savior. Now, the church, in all it's un-fucking-selfish glory, does not take credit for helping. They say it's all because of God. OMFGBBQSAUCE, THE CHURCH IS FUCKING CONVERTNG EVERYONE! MORE OVER MORMON'S, JESUS IS IN TOWN!

6) Learn bullshit. You seem good at spewing it, but you're pretty much Terry Shivao when it comes to thinking.

6) Know that story? Um...no. Nor do I really care. On an actually interestng sidenote, if I had a tumor, I'd name it Turbo.

6) Why? Because I do not like you. You're annoying. And I think you have horrible taste in music. You also smell. And you have an extra toe. Growing out of your back. WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THAT?!?!

4) Also, that was hundreds and hundreds of years ago. Of course it was harsh. This was back when queen's were chopping off heads left and right. That was life. If you went walking around today the Ku Klux Klan in the middle of fucking L.A., think you'd be allowed out of alive?

Yeah. So stop twisting your fucking words around. You are not better than anyone. You are not your religion. You are not a cool, smart, or unique individual. Everytime you say you are different than everybody else's views, and how "non-fucking-conforming" you are, realize that you are a disease. Of ignorance; not even realizing that you the same as the newest wave of 'anarchists'. You're the same ignorant organic matter as everyone else. You are the all-shitty-posting, all-hypocritical crap of the world.

You make a few grammatical errors, making this a little hard to interpret.
But what I think you are saying (correct me if I’m wrong) is that you believe I am writing my answers from an antagonist angle – which I am not. I merely question and explore the pros and cons of my thread topic.
