religion never used to terrify me.

but then...then i slowly grew to understand, that people are insane.

http://www.objectiveministries.org/kidz/

this is one of the most awful examples of propoganda i've ever seen in my life. and the worst part about it, is that i've seen stuff similar to this, go down at my church.
do they actually believe what they're preaching? or are they SO passionate about it, that they'll say anything to make sure that "their kid ends up in heaven too"?

Re: religion never used to terrify me.

"'cause Jesus wants us to be hot for Him, not lukewarm."

And that's why one time at band camp I tapped Jebus, damn what a ride.

I'd just like to say my ex was in-fucking-sane with this shit, blisters are caused by the Devil. Whats with this whole eternal burning in hell shit too?

Don't you think the Devil would take care of his homies? C'mon God takes care of his own so why not the Devil? Plus evil chicks are so badass in leather and whips...

Who knows?

Religion itself isn't bad, it's just some of the the weirdos who practice it.

i agree. faith is a wonderful thing to have. but the moment you start putting religion in places it doesn't belong...is the moment religion=bad.

my mom's incredibly sick, and her faith is an incredible boost on her morale.
however, when she tries to tell me that gays shouldn't marry, because "god says it's wrong." i have to explain to her, that it's irrational to use those beliefs, to determine the lifestyle of a person that doesn't believe in god.
...that's the only time that i actually dislike religion.

It's ok to disagree with the practice of homosexuality based on faith views if you don't hate the gay, just like it's ok to agree with it based on humanist views.

i think it's okay to disagree with it...but this is where voting is flawed. to determine their lifestyle based on their religion...well, i mean, how would you or anyone else feel if we made a law that said "you have to be a christian"? because it's not far from there at the rate it's going. because the moment we're living our lifestyles according to the bible, is the moment we're no longer the "land of the free". and, if 70 or 80 percent of our country is christian...then what hope do we have? i have nothing against people disagreeing with the whole gay rights thing, it just makes me mad when i say "give me one reason, other then "god says it's wrong, as to why they shouldn't be allowed to."
and they have nothing to say. all my parents could respond with was, "well...uhmm.....what positive effects will it have on the economy?"

Re: religion never used to terrify me.

You may or may not believe this but I used to be an alter server and I was going to be at the very least a Decon but maybe a priest. (Odd right?) Anyway after a little bit of what I saw just what people did with God's name and so forth it was just stupid. I think faith is stupid gives people a reason to do something wrong or be a cunt or something like that.

I have no faith but I think the way Tao and Buddah in those faiths they have ways you should live, and I think those are the two best because if you just not really follow but listen to some of the things they have to say and how to live your day to day life it is far more down to Earth for one thing. But it is also etics most people don't have at all.

Except your not gonna burn in hell by not doing it.*

There's nothing more that pisses me off than shit like this. It makes me fucking sick.

I had to email that objective ministries site.

You do what you want with adults able to reason, but propaganda as intolerant and harsh as that being forced on the vulnerable minds of children is fucking disgusting.

Re: religion never used to terrify me.

as bit said, Buddhism is probably the best way to go. buddha wasn't directly related to gOD as jesus was, like Muhammad; only a prophet. christians and muslims are praying to god for forgiveness, to wash away their sins, confessions and all that bullshit. buddhism, you can not only practice another religion at the same time, but you aren't really praying to god exactly, more to nature*waits for someone to compare god to nature*.

buddhists know that everyone has evil in them, and it can't be helped, that's what meditation is about. they fucking know they're always gonna be evil, so meditation is a way to gather all of your evil, put it aside and then just live in a temporary state away from all that self-indulgence and self-mortification guano. there are of course different stages of meditation, but it requires a poopload of practice to get to the highest stage (dhyana), where you basically feel like pure spiritual ecstacy is having a tea party anywhere that doesn't make this seem like inuendo.

I've actually tried meditating once and I failed without question. you apparently have to be in synch with nature and all that shenanigans but I just couldn't do it. now hypnosis is where meditation is basically handed to you, and your mind is just waiting for some latent garbage to be thrown at you, but definitely not as extreme as meditation.

I think I'll end it there, because I have no idea how I got from buddhism being the superior religion to what hypnosis is. my knowledge of relgion is pretty gay too, so I won't go any further before my credibility lands in the toilet.

I said it first, I just follow they way Buddah and Tao say to live. I take what I like ignore what I don't and people from BOTH of thsoe respect me even though I only took bits and parts just to follow for day to day life.

You oly live one dick heads, live it don't waste every day trying to get to someplace you only THINK exsists, because if it don't good job wasting your life and making everyone else hate you.

Live for the day, die for the momment.

I've had an experience with God, so there's no doubt in my mind he exists.

Buddhism is more a way to live life to the fullest rather than a religion.

I have faith in God, though I might not believe what the Bible says. In my eyes, it's written by a bunch of guys whom claim to have had an experience with God/Jesus. Why should I believe them?

buddhism can be either. and the variations of buddhism are incredible...when i was in china, the buddhist monks we met, believed that the better lives they lived, the better lives their reincarnations would be granted. ...these were strange monks however, seeing as how they had cell phones, prada bags...and girlfriends. i don't know what monks are and aren't allowed, but, it seemed strange to me.

and as for the bible, i've come to look at it as an artistically written book that was dramatically misinterpreted somewhere along the way.

my beliefs have evolved into not believing anything, until i have an absolute reason to. if there's any room for doubt, then it's not worth telling anyone that you KNOW you're right.
like you, myrmidon, i'm not about to tell you that you didn't have an experience with god, if you did, i envy you, and i wish he would make himself apparent to me... and if he is real, i think it's unfortunate that he's only making himself known to certain people, and letting others...burn, basically.

Live your life the way you want to and just be happy in this is thus case to a differant extent.

I actually on my top 10 shit to do in life is to live with some monks before my prime.

That would deny faith, you see my experience, although it convinced me beyond a doubt of a supernatural, couldn't have physically proved that there is one higher power who created the universe. I see what happened as a sign, you have to be open to see it for what it is.
