Computer is fucked, art is lost, jay is sad :(
My computer died. My fucking awesome sexy computer. Something about a missing file in the windows or system folder when i start it up, but i might have to reinstall windows or revert to how it was the day i got it or some shit, im working with dell atm. Im going to look up what the error actually says and post it to see if any of you can help, because i dont want to lose all my .psd's and 15,000 songs i dont have on my goddamn ipod yet and all my fucking hard work....


Blugh. Just letting you know why i havent been able to post more of my recent work or anything cool like that. I am on my moms computer atm, and she has a scanner, so im going to try and scan a pic i recently did of god pondering his choice of beer, heinekin or budweiser, but im really upset about my computer being fucked.


I leave hawaii and a piece of my life behind on thursday as i move to san francisco for college. Hit me up if youre in the area, ill be going to the acadamy of art in san francisco (Acadamy of Art University, living on sutter street, moving in on the 28th, staying in a hotel / at my aunts house until then.)

Something i did when windows fucked up on me, is to reinstall it on your computer, but this time, make the install folder WINDOWS2 or something of the like, that way it will still install and boot from the new copy, but all of your older files will be preserved. Then you can get everything off, wipe the drive, and start over new, then put your stuff back on. Expressburn is a good prog to use to burn piles of data/music/whatever to DVDs or CDs.

Two questions:

Does the word "System32" pop-up anywhere on the screen during a log-on?

Can you not boot up in Safe-Mode?

Oh and when Doc and I were in San Fran we walked right by the Academy of Art

You heard right. My brand new Dell crashed the first two months I owned it because of System32, whatever it is. All I did was call Dell Technical Support. The first time, I got this Indian-speaking guy. I couldn't understand a word he was saying. So that was a bad first experience. Then the next was a straight whitey, so we were good. They will eventually end up sending you cd's to reinstall programs on your computer. But if you can get into Safe Mode (F8?) before the System32 appears, you may be able to safe all of your art and work onto a usb drive. That's what I did. Good luck.

Boot from knoppix or something and copy all your files onto a flash drive.

Great choice of school. That's one of the schools I was looking at. Major?

Even if windows is fucked, the HD should still have all your files on it so don't go about reformatting right away. You could try using a linux live cd and copying the files to an alternate storage place if you have one. What I do to prevent stuff like this is to install windows on a small hard drive and install all my programs and whatnot on it and keep all my music and files on two separate ones I only use for storage purposes (650GB added together, gonna need more space soon :P). That way if something goes wrong i can just reformat the windows drive and I still have all my files.

major isnt so sure atm, just taking whatever interests me for my first year. Dunno if i like the city, might be xferring after a semester either back to hawaii to U.H. or to Boston
