Stuck :(

Im sure many of you guys use 2 computers, but seeing as i've just recently obtained a new laptop for college i have kinda, ehh found a problem which i hadn't thought about. I can't think of a good way to keep both my computers updated, other than having to keep traipsing between both of them with a memory stick, or by buying a .mac account which i do not want to do. If anyone has any useful tips or apps i should use please tell me

yeah, what are you trying to update? I don't use two computers but I can say that I neglect updating my external HD. It's not a big deal. Just relax holmes.

By the way, does anyone know what "traipsing" is?

I google'ed it while reading this thread and my results were about evolution.

Am I missing something here or did science text-books just become obsolete?

traipse means to walk reluctantly or sumtin. on that google thing it said "traipsing into evolution", so yeh.

the updates should be on the site. if not, just google it or something. it's no big deal.

doesn't Mac just auto-update sometimes?

my dad always tells me to run shit, (I can't remember the name now), and I never do, and it's fine. :\

I think he means to keep his just general files updated. USB stick will probably be your best bet.

I mean keeping for e.g my itunes on 1 comp the same as on another, without having to put the song onto a stick and transfer onto another comp

Vic pretty much hit it. I got a portable HD because I really don't need 250 or more gigs and I didn't want to have to worry about external power (I have a 2.5 inch 160 GB Western Digital). And with the current apartment-roaming laptop situation, the lack of a power cord is very nice.

Solved my prob, i found a simple way of option clicking when opening itunes and selecting the library from my other comp, still requires me to use a memory stick, but is alot easier.

Your music collection is small then?

I had to use my external hard drive to do that shit when I went to Orlando twice this past summer.

No, u know the library it's like 1mb in size. It's just 1 file, u put that on the stick then simply open up that library instead of your normal one.

make a crossover cable, then enable shared folders or whatever the fuck mac has, and just send it over via that.

Hook up and send to update as necessary.

You should get an external though, that way you never have to trasnport music or critical files on a USB stick. Because you will always forget something and wish you just had it all.*
