Careers
I've been thinking lately with my senior year coming up.

And I know I want to do either three things.

The main thing being working on comics, either writing/drawing or both, I want to do comics no matter what.

And the second being a concept artist for various games or whatever.

The third being to work for Adult Swim, haha, it would be fantastic.

But yeah, dreaming never hurt.

What about you fools.

Well seeing as i'm already in college and well on my way down the career path, i should probably know what i wanna do right?

Well, i'm either majoring in computer science, for programming.

Or I'm getting a Management Information Science degree from the department of Buisness and Economics from my school. I think i'm going to do this one and I also am working towards my Internet Studies Certificate.

Basically i want to manage large companies and their information. Preferably internet based companies.

I'm a great programmer, and a decent web designer but when I'm going it all alone on a project it takes a lot of time.

I'm not entirely sure. I want to write, but other than that, I have a few things that interest me. I've considered stuff such as an English teacher, working at a publishing company, etc.; or maybe something in Psychology, like a guidance counselor.

My senior year is coming up too, and I'm trying to decide what I want to major in when I go to college - English or Psychology. I'm leaning far more toward English, but I'm wondering if a double major would be worth all the hard work.

that topic has been bugging me for a while, and I've only figured it out recently. I've always wanted to work with video games, make music, or make art.

so I figured, fuck it. I'll be a sound engineer (making sound effects for movies, anime, games, etc). for something like games it would be like recording a stampler as a gun reloading in a game, and even playing around with synths if I'm doing lasers in a movie. for something like cartoons, I'd want to work with adult swim and record voices for the shows.

My brother wanted to be a sound engineer or some sort of recording engineer and he had even started his own little studio for bands.

He changed his mind cause he read almost every book on recording and knew every bit about it pretty much, so going to college for it would have been pointless.

So now he is just hoping his band makes it big, which is never easy. :\

My junior year in highschool is coming to a close. I have no idea what I want to do. I figured I'd get a degree in something, and then get some shitty job, and that'd be it.

Well yeah, thats what I meant, he decided he didn't want to go through however many years of college just to sit through classes about stuff he already has known for some time, only to get a job in recording.

He'll probably get back around to it eventually when and if he gets more money.

And Atomic no need to live a life of mediocrity! Go out and do something awesome, and don't live some shit life with some shit job.

that's how you become a "slave in white collars" . but yeh, to people wanting something direct like author or musician or shampoo tester, it's really risky to go for that directly. if you don't make it, you're fucked. what should be done is getting a career loosely based on it, and you could go for it in your free time. like me, an aspiring sound pooper, it would be very easy for me to make music on my own time.

and for the idiotas, when I said sound engineer I didn't mean getting a person's recorded sounds and mixing them and all that shit. I meant being a sound designer or foley artist.

EDIT- and DanteVirgil, there isn't really much back up for a comic artist. that job sure racks in millions a year.

I can definately understand where a lot of you, like AtomicHype, are coming from. I too am facing a lot of difficult decisions about my future. I am two weeks away from being done with my first year of college, and still do not know exactly what I want to do with my life. I have talked around campus to my friends and professors about career choices. There are several things bottled up in my medula I am unsure of. This semester I had this really awesome philosophy professor who really opened my eyes about a lot of things. I am taking two of his philosophy courses next semester in the Fall because he really knows his stuff. I love listening and reading about philosophy; things that happened in the past and how we can apply it to our daily lives. Though I am unsure where a major like this would take me in life other than teaching others.
I was considering being a business major, with a PHI minor.

I know by now a lot of people, people younger than I, know exactly what they want to do. I have a feeling it is going to take me a while to choose something to do with my life. Truthfully, that makes me sound like a loser. Its like I don't know what I'm interested in, that's whats most depressing. You'd think by now I would know what to do with myself. I'm going to keep on searching what I was planned to do on this earth, whether that takes me year or the rest of my life, it will be found; eventually.

I'm kinda like Cove. There are some things I find fun and interesting, but can't really be applied to any job that will make me anything.
My mom keeps telling me I should do something I want to. But at the same time she's basically forcing me to go through college since money is fucking everything. My plan, as of now, is to graduate from highschool and hit Everett Community, then get my undergrads out of the way. From there on, I have absolutely no idea of what to do. Nothing what so ever.

Whole family asks me every time they see me. I think it's because I'll be like the second to (hopefully) come out with a degree on the other end of college.

So the plan that isn't what I want is to get a degree in some bullshit something. And get a job that will pay me nice cause I have this bullshit degree. And from there I can do whatever.

My friend graduated from highschool last year and started working at the Chevron across town and living with his friend near the lake. He had a fridge full of beer and a crotch rocket to his name. My step-dad said he was envious.

dreaming is different. when I took a look (I rhyme all the time) around me, I realize all this shit's gonna be gone. I'm so comfortable where I am now though. once all this school stuff is over, life just hits a plateau.
