Welcome to the forum. The colored ones could easily be achived using a brush / smudge tool and changing the HUE.

I can say 50%, more on photo retouching but not in creating this backdrop.

there pretty simple effects, and i'll attempt to explain it without phothoshop in front of me. The top one is a simple filter under render and diffrence clouds. It should give you a cloudy effect which i adjusted the color by changing the hue located somewhere under image.
The other picture is made with some brushes and smudged with the the smudge tool located somewhere on the toolbar.... (< yeah i know tons of help ) then i went under filters and went to blur and applied a motion blur.
If this is at all confusing tell me cause to be honest.... im not quite sure if what i wrote is right.

Play with the filters. Photoshop has a lot to offer.

yeahs. most of photoshop is seat time. The more time you have to mess around really helps with your ability to use it. Its really fun to see what you can do with ps, and i think tutorials also help as a basis on ideals and such.
