We missed vdc's 4th anniversary (2/20/2003)!!!
lets all celebrate today / tomorrow / this whole year for 4 years of vdc.
wow, its been a long time.
Some History
Founded in 2003 by Jay. Teddy (a friend from battleforums), helped setup the forum for us. Pat joined as soon as the forum started, and agreed to help with running and skinning the site.
Akulesworld, as it was previously known:
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.akulesworld.com
akules world forums became Visual Legacy Design
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://cgi.akulesworld.com
I bet someone here remembers this design:
http://web.archive.org/web/200412302...esigncore.com/
We needed a new domain and name, so we switched to Visual Design Core, going of the visual theme from visual legacy designs....
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://...designcore.com
v2 was created, which was similar to this one... except it has undergone several changes... several skins.. and slight modifications to be what you see today.
v3 was announced a long ass time ago, it's been on and off, and there have been some huge changes to what we were originally going to do. We have a plan now, and want to stick to it...
As much as i hate to say it, i wish i could have finished v3 for the anniversary... but i do have some information that may help you guys get an understanding of whats going to happen.
Showcasing art is the main goal. We want to help you guys show off your art and get comments and critiques.
New and improved design. its very sexy and professional looking, not complete and will probably endure several small changes as the v2 has.
More content. we want to bring you guys great articles and tutorials and have a plethora of stuff to help you grow as an artist or designer.
The rollout process:
First stage will be beta. Here the new site will be up and running, with most of the stuff finished. From here we will continue to work on the specifics and try and optimize the code and design to fit the site and server the best. Here is where we will need everyone who frequents the site to help comment on the design and functionality to bring it all together.
From there we will continue to work on the site and release incremental updates and changes along the way. This is where we will actively recruit and advertise and try and get the site more popular.
Well, sadly I've been pretty busy lately which is why i forgot to mention the anniversary. Lets have a 3 cheers for VDC and another year hopefully with awesome progress.
