Soon to be Windows Free :)

Kinda, Im going to dual boot with Mandrake 10.0 Linux got 50% Downloaded out of about 2 gigs. I've read up about it , learned about dual booting and some linux info. Probally the thing I liked most about it, 40 known Linuix viruses, none widespread while windows has 600,000 viruses and hundreds of them are widespread. It source is free, great gui interfaces, nearly crashless, and supposebly much faster proformance. Of course it won't help much unless Mandrake's Wine (Windows Emulator) works well with games.
I'll you give some feedback when I actually try it though.

I actually payed for Lindows/Linspire..i ended up using it for like 2 weeks, and ended up not liking it. It couldn't support most/all of the programs I liked, like Dreamweaver, Photoshop (GASP), StarCraft and the emulator ended up costing like $4095803454 so that was out of the picture, so i ended up just reinstalling windows

I got linspire iso for free legally but I don't want it because it sucks... but Mandrake is actually really good and you can get a free emulator for it called wine. Though I will find the truth out when its done. It better be worth the time cause Im downloading at 18 kbs on a 2 gig file... Then I got to get Partion Magic 8 which is pretty huge if I'm not mistaking.

Partition Magic is like 30 mb.. and linux .. uh, okay, its great, I used to dual-boot with Fedora, but then you realize, ok great I'm using linux.. but what can I do? Well let me tell you what you can do. You can surf the web, go on aim (gAim), and relearn all your graphics skills (Photoshop is NOT supported). IF you want you can even use the built in C compiler . The emulator is OK.. I believe youre talking about WineX, but it is hard to configure. There is no faster performance (especially with mandrake, its barely a step up from Windows, I guess redhat, fedora, mandrake are all linux for noobs, for example their gui is just like windows, and you dont even have to even TOUCH the terminal if you dont want) because just as many resources are being taken up for the gui unless youre running something like slackware. I'm not trying to discourage you but I'm warning you, your experience on mandrake will either be great and you stick with it, or very quickly youll say "fuck this" and return to windows. Oh yeah.. did I mention free software?

Thank God

Well I could really care less about that because what cause me to get bad proformance is my family who uses my computer gets hell of alot of viruses and spyware, to the point where format and restore is the only choice.

Yeah, WineX is suppose to support it if not I can cope with The Gimp or I can allways switch to the Windows Xp at anytime

I have a server at my house that is currently DOA. i plan on installing REDHAT on it and dual boot windows 2003 server with that. This way i can decide what i want to do with it when i'm away at college. Plus i can remote access it from anywhere, which is also excellent.

I have only ever used linux (dunno what distro) at my school in one of our computer labs. And i really dont like it. Its slow on those machines, and you can barely put any programs on there. But one thing i do love is i loaded firefox on them
