Some friends downloaded it, it played in fast-mo with no subtitles, and a legit version cost like 76 bucks per video.

your friends downloaded the Digest for Freaks. Which is only a 30 min preview of the the first OVA.

The full version of the first OVA is a full 50 mins long.

How was the animation and stuff? I've seen short ass previews and the whole thing looked really good but I haven't seen any official video (or much less, the whole thing).

Have you seen the anime version? The 13 episodes? Would you say that this is better or worse than that, in terms of animation? I know the story follows the manga for this new stuff.

From what i've seen, I like the contrasting of colors in some parts, but I liked the original 13's darker styles... :\
